Davide Sgarra is a clarinetist who moves between worlds—Italy and New York, tradition and the present. He grew up in Varese, studied in The Hague, and now makes his home in Brooklyn, where he has become a regular presence on the New York jazz scene. He plays with the intensity and swing of the New Orleans tradition, but he's not stuck in the past. He has performed at Dizzy's Club, Birdland, and the Concertgebouw, and his playing has been featured in VareseNews, De Haagse Tijden, and Jazz Lives. He's a specialist in the clarinet, but he's not limited by it.
