Julien Hucq

Born in Charleroi, Julien Hucq is a saxophonist, composer, and bandleader based in New York City since 2012. Leading the Julien Hucq Quartet, he has toured Europe and the U.S., performing at Birdland and Montreux Jazz Festival with artists like Claudio Roditi and Calvin Hill. His nine albums, including the recent “Butterfly Whisperer”, blend jazz, classical, and pop, featuring collaborations with George Cables and Omar Hakim. Hucq’s compositions span bebop to funk for ensembles like Vents d’Anches Quatuor. He’s played with the Barry Harris Big Band and shared stages with Tony Allen. His music tells stories, uniting people through innovative sound. Hucq holds a Master’s from Queens College, NYC.
