Tamer Temel Quartet •
The Tamer Temel Quartet is a Turkish jazz ensemble led by saxophonist and composer Tamer Temel. Active primarily in the late 2000s and early 2010s, the quartet showcased Temel’s talents on tenor saxophone alongside shifting lineups of skilled musicians. Early iterations included Dave Allen (guitar), Masa Kamaguchi (bass), and Marc Miralta (drums), featured on their debut album Barcelona (2010), released by A.K. Music. Later configurations, such as for the 2013 album Bir Kedi Kara, included Serkan Özyılmaz (piano), Volkan Topakoğlu (bass), and Cem Aksel (drums). The quartet is known for its modern jazz sound, infused with subtle Turkish influences, blending intricate compositions with expressive improvisation. Though Temel has since focused on the Töz Trio, the quartet remains a notable chapter in his career.
