On Sun. Aug. 2, guitarist Jonathan Keto and trumpeter Aquiles Navarro bring their vibrant blend of jazz and Afro-Caribbean influences to 't Uilekot.
Born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, Jonathan Muanza Keto began playing guitar at the age of 13 under the guidance of his uncle. After moving to Belgium in 2009, he studied music with teacher Kari Antila, where he discovered jazz. His music reflects a rich fusion of African traditions, jazz, funk, and gospel.
Panamanian trumpeter, composer, and DJ Aquiles Navarro is the founder of River Down Records, a label dedicated to championing Panama's forward-thinking musical voices. His work draws on a wide range of influences, including folk traditions, salsa, reggae, and experimental music.
Together, Keto and Navarro create a dynamic musical dialogue that blends rhythmic energy, lyrical improvisation, and a deep sense of cultural connection.
