The Michael Cochrane Trio is a dynamic straight-ahead jazz ensemble featuring acclaimed veteran pianist and composer Michael Cochrane, alongside longtime collaborators Calvin Hill on bass and Steve Johns on drums.

Michael Cochrane, born in Peekskill, New York, is a respected New York-area pianist, composer, arranger, and educator who has resided in the tri-state region since 1974. He studied at Boston University and has built a five-decade career performing and recording with luminaries such as Sonny Fortune, Michael Brecker, Chico Freeman, Clark Terry, Eddie Gomez, and many others. Known for his nimble, tasteful, and subtly adventurous style influenced by Cedar Walton, Chick Corea, and Herbie Hancock, Cochrane leads various groups and has released albums as a bandleader.

Bassist Calvin Hill is a stalwart jazz veteran with a six-decade career, having worked with icons including McCoy Tyner, Max Roach, George Coleman, Joanne Brackeen, and Pharoah Sanders. He is a highly in-demand collaborator and frequent partner in Cochrane-led projects.

Drummer Steve Johns brings propulsive energy and swing, with a history of working in bands led by Sonny Fortune (alongside Cochrane) and others in the New York scene.

The trio regularly performs at venues like Mezzrow and Smalls Jazz Club in New York City, delivering sophisticated, swinging interpretations of standards and Cochrane's originals. Their chemistry reflects deep mutual respect and shared history in the creative jazz community.
