L'Antre Deux Mondes •
L'Antre Deux Mondes is a bold and poetic exploration of the space between two musical worlds — where the precision of classical chamber music meets the adventurous journey of modern jazz. This contemporary Third Stream octet unites the renowned clarinet quartet Les Vents d’Anches with composer and alto saxophonist Julien Hucq, forming a singular ensemble that transcends stylistic boundaries and expands the narrative possibilities of chamber-jazz.
Founded in 2015, Les Vents d’Anches — Marie-Hélène Adnet, Fanny Claes, Nicolas Cretu, and Richard Decamps — are known for their daring repertoire, spanning from the baroque to the contemporary, and embracing influences from various folk traditions to jazz. In 2019, the quartet invited Julien Hucq to compose a new body of work, resulting in a suite of original compositions inspired by the “forgotten constellations.”
Joined by Denis Vernimmen (piano), Adrien Tyberghein (double bass), and Jérôme Baudart (drums), the octet blends written forms with improvisation, structure with spontaneity. The result is a sound both intimate and expansive — a dialogue between refinement and risk, where genre dissolves and pure expression emerges.
