Their joint album, Töz II, released in 2022 by A.K. Müzik, expands the trio’s signature sound—marked by subtle intensity, refined interplay, and expressive clarity—into a rich nine-piece ensemble. The project draws on Hezarfen Ensemble’s broad instrumental palette, weaving together jazz sensibilities with the textures and structures of contemporary classical music to create a sonic language that is both intricate and immediate.

Founded in 2010 by violist Ulrich Mertin and composer Michael Ellison, Hezarfen Ensemble has become a vital force in Turkey’s new music scene. With projects emphasizing intercultural exchange and interdisciplinary collaboration, Hezarfen challenges traditional boundaries between genres, practices, and geographies.
