Aquiles Navarro, Canadian-Panamanian trumpeter, composer, and DJ, was born in Panama and spent years in New York before relocating to Brussels. As founder of River Down Records, he amplifies Panama's vibrant creative scene. Drawing from folkloric music, salsa, and reggae, Navarro collaborates across disciplines with musicians, dancers, and artists. He studied under Carlos Garnett and Victor “Vitin” Paz in Panama, later earning a Bachelor’s in Jazz Performance from the New England Conservatory and a Master’s from the University of Miami, mentored by Brian Lynch. A founding member of Irreversible Entanglements, Aquiles Navarro has shaped their acclaimed sound, including the 2020 album *Who Sent You?* and more, while performing at iconic venues like the Sydney Opera House and Berlin Jazz Festival. He performs alongside poet Moor Mother, and his duo with drummer Tcheser Holmes, Heritage of the Invisible, fuses improvisation with intuitive rhythm, releasing Heritage of the Invisible II in 2021. Navarro’s dynamic, improvisational style weaves eclectic influences into a cohesive sonic identity. He is currently touring with Irreversible Entanglements.
