Julien Hucq Group •

The Julien Hucq Group is a dynamic jazz ensemble led by Belgian-born, New York-based alto saxophonist and composer Julien Hucq, whose innovative blend of straight-ahead jazz, bebop, and contemporary influences has earned acclaim for its melodic flow and emotional depth.

Formed to explore Hucq's original compositions, the ensemble features the versatile keyboards and effects of Martin Daniel—known for his work with GLü and Fokkop.era—the masterful double bass of Manolo Cabras, a veteran collaborator with icons like Toots Thielemans and Enrico Rava, and the explosive drumming of Algerian powerhouse Karim Ziad, celebrated for his stints with Joe Zawinul and Nguyên Lê.

Elevating their live performances to multimedia spectacles, the group incorporates live painting by visual artist Egon, whose on-stage creations respond in real time to the music's energy, creating an immersive fusion of sound and sight that has captivated audiences at venues like Rockerill and Ferme de Lansrode in Belgium.
