Le Monde Merveilleux de Pépito is an extraordinary quartet led by the visionary Franco-Belgian trumpeter, flugelhorn player, and composer Pierre-Antoine Savoyat. Known for his collaborations with renowned artists like AKA Moon and Stéphane Galland & The Rhythm Hunters, Savoyat guides his ensemble in creating a unique blend of intimate storytelling, contemporary lyricism, and intricate compositions, all enriched by kaleidoscopic improvisations.
With every performance, the quartet invites their audience into a deeply textured musical landscape, where every motif is imbued with personal memory and insightful social commentary. His horn lines often begin as whispered narratives, gradually unfolding into bold melodic statements that drive the quartet’s collective exploration.
Their debut album, Memories From a Winter Journey (2023), stands as a heartfelt tribute to Savoyat’s late mother and father. Acclaimed by Le Soir for its “sincerity, depth, and intelligence,” the album effortlessly balances reflective ballads and masterful storytelling, offering a rich, emotive listening experience. Drawing inspiration from the quartets of jazz luminaries such as Wayne Shorter and Ambrose Akinmusire, Le Monde Merveilleux de Pépito’s performances are emotionally charged and brimming with warmth and humanism.
Recently, the quartet has been preparing to record their second album, with the addition of three adventurous and highly creative artists; Alexandra Grimal, Lucia Pires and Lynn Cassiers.
When performing as the core quartet, Le Monde Merveilleux de Pépito plays compositions from both their first album and their upcoming second album.
